Trumpeter Swan, Original Watercolor

$28.00

Did you know that the Trumpeter Swan is native to Arkansas?
I had no idea.

I am currently working towards my Arkansas Master Naturalist Certification and due to social distancing we have been doing our classes and lectures via zoom. Last Saturday as I was gearing up to take notes from expert Ornithologist Ellen Turner, she very casually mentioned the Trumpeter Swan. I became so distracted with excitement about this fact that I had to pull out my watercolors and immediately paint one of these beauties (see the last photo).

The Trumpeter Swan was once native to Arkansas. Driven to near extinction in the early 20th century leaving less than 100 Trumpeter Swans south of Canada. Thankfully, due to rehabilitation efforts being made all over the country including right here in Boxley, Arkansas, this once endangered waterfowl is now making a comeback. The Trumpeter Swan is the largest of the native waterfowl in North America.

This original painting will ship flat in a sturdy cardboard mailer.
