A cold January day. I didn’t last long.

photograms

I recently fell in love with photograms and the capability to create delicate lines and features with shadows. Here is one of my favorites. Available for purchase at my new ETSY shop!

growing circles

this light show appears on our wall every morning that the sun is shining. its lovely to watch them grow as jonathan and i did on this day.

clementine forest.

clementineforest

as i was eating my first clementine for the day (thanks to abby for my new addiction to them), i noticed the little trees that they contained within the peel. i foresee a softground etching in the future! these would make perfect little tree imprints onto a plate to etch….im excited with the ideas and possibilities that my little clementine forest contains!

hope you all have a nice weekend!

{this is what happens when you leave a 6 year old alone with a pin cushion!}

what the fairy left:

dsc02903

a few days ago raine had two of her bottom teethed pulled (because the larger ones were coming in)…..so through our discussions of the tooth fairy, she inquired whether or not the tooth fairy left presents for children instead of money. more specifically, she wanted to know if the tooth fairy ever left crystals for kids, and continued to state that she hoped the tooth fairy would surprise her with crystals.

luckily the tooth fairy is a clever little pack rat and was able to scavenge up these “crystals” from a bag of rocks and minerals i had been holding on to from my old college geology class.

celine clanet

i only thought i was done posting for today until i came across celine clanet’s photography via humble arts foundation, then i couldnt resist! {confession: in love i am}

fall flutter-by

i found this seemingly live butterfly a few weeks ago in my backyard under our butterfly bush. it wasnt until i carefully snuck up on it and caught it that i realized it was dead. its beauty and perfectly preserved dead body seems somehow symbolic of something that i havent quite yet put my finger on. its tragic beauty brought much convenience to me as i was able to take a plethora of photographs of its body. also, raine was able to take it to school in a jar to show her classmates…thank you little flutter-by.

as a side note that has nothing to do with my flutter by butterfly, i am currently enjoying an over indulgence of the moment that i am in. mason jennings on the stereo, ezmah by my side, dasien with a bone, my husband being home, cold-wetness outside, and a single bird chirping something important to another fellow bird…mmm…fall

firefly release

Raine and Zeit

Raine and Zeit releasing her fireflies from the night before. Unfortunately it was rainy and they had no where to go…Raine didnt mind so much. *Note the soccer cleats, pink dress, winter coat (in summer) and gloves…sometimes i wish i was 5 again*

useful misuses

Tiina Hakala has designed this beautiful table around the concept of people’s ‘misuse’ of ordinary objects….for example; doorknobs as coat hooks, tables as benches, chairs as foot rests, etc.  This table has removable parts…all the accesories slide, move around the edge of the table, and even detach and can be turned upside down to fit your functional needs. I would love this in my home/studio.
