this robert kingston piece makes me happy. robert currently teaches painting and drawing at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California. though this is one of his older works {2003}, it no doubt shows off his impressive eye for color and design…
i found kevin christy via camilla engman’s blog. im not sure if its his use of paper, his color choices, or subject matter, but something about his works snags me and sucks me in…i love its strange quality of not really knowing whats going on…love it.
Tiina Hakala has designed this beautiful table around the concept of people’s ‘misuse’ of ordinary objects….for example; doorknobs as coat hooks, tables as benches, chairs as foot rests, etc. This table has removable parts…all the accesories slide, move around the edge of the table, and even detach and can be turned upside down to fit your functional needs. I would love this in my home/studio.
Lately I have felt a twinge of Fall in the air….its probably just wishful thinking as its been nearly 90 degrees this entire week, but I’m still patiently (or not so patiently) awaiting my favorite season. This picture is of course from last year and seeing it only fed my Fall-infested thoughts. This picture reminds me of the great day that Jonathan and I had walking around Fayetteville. He wound up at the Dickson St. Book Store, while I stayed at the Walton Arts Center’s rose garden to catch up on Jonathan’s recommended reading of Kurt Vonnegut’s “Slaughterhouse-Five”….cant you just taste the peppermint and feel the cool breeze?
