I recently started a new series that went on display at the beginning of this month at Ozark Natural Foods in Fayetteville, entitled “mend”. Since then, I’ve realized that this series isn’t over. It’s not even close. At this point, it seems like it may last forever….or at the very least, another year or so.
Above are just a few of the new pieces that I’ve been working on for my show that runs from March through April at Northwest Arkansas Community College. These are still in progress, but I like the direction they’re taking.
Finally….I’ve had a sudden burst of inspiration. I love when this happens. It seems to be the best side of me and I don’t want to leave the studio when it happens. I have three shows just around the corner and I have been worried that I wouldn’t have anything new. As usual though, if I have a little pressure and a deadline approaching, I perform at my best. Here are the dates and locations of my upcoming shows:
I have a reception on February 4th from 10-noon at Ozark Natural Foods
March-April my work will be on display at NWACC (location TBA)
July is my large show with John L. Newman of The University of Arkansas at the Arts Center of the Ozarks.
Here are my two contributions to the Arts Center of the Ozarks annual 5 x 5 inch canvas fundraiser. Area artists are given a canvas (or sometimes 2!) to do with as they please and then return for an auction to raise money for the non-profit organization.
some new found inspiration.
lovely etchings {and mixed media prints} by colleen kinsella of portland, maine.
I’m clearing out my studio to make room for new work. Take advantage of this ridiculously unique opportunity to grab an original painting for a great price!

That’s right. All works listed above are only $100.

obviously couldnt choose just one to share. i originally discovered jennifer davis‘ work at tiny showcase. her color palette and use of negative spaces are only two reasons i love her work. incredibly inspiring.

something full of meaningless symbols. satisfying nonetheless.

i found this while flipping through a book at the library yesterday. i find great comfort and inspiration in this watercolor by charles demuth from 1918.

a little something i made last week. i have been coming back to this chair a lot lately in my work.

our big trip to colorado. these photos only scratch the surface of what we did the entire time we were there. for a trip that we almost didnt take…i think we had a great time.

chuck close’s painting titled “keith” featured at the st louis art museum. even though we made it to the museum 30 minutes before closing time, we were still able to see a few amazing pieces…..this being one of them. raine particularly liked this one.
