the girls enjoyed seeing the animals and spending time with our friend valerie.

probably should have posted this a little sooner. but, my work is currently on display (along with several other amazing printers in our area) at Fayetteville Underground. its a new gallery in our area, and is actually in its early stages of development. The area is stunningly beautiful in a renovated building on the downtown square. I encourage anyone in the area to check it out. unfortunately the reception was thursday, but the show will be up through april!

when i was younger i often played outside alone, or with my younger, twin neighbors. fortunately for us, we lived near a wooded area, so there was always plenty to explore (in our little world). one thing i remember doing with my friends was pasting feathers, sticks, and strings to trees with mud. Often times too, we would tie rocks to strings to dangle down for our enjoyment.
with this said, i drew this picture without even giving a second thought to my childhood. it wasnt until i was done with it that i remembered the tree we enjoyed as kids. funny how our subconscious works, isnt it?

tape…with a splash of color. i used this for trisha’s birthday card.

the best form of this is face to face

an ecclectic gathering of faces and personalities

these flowers want to say something, and i cant quite understand what that is. though im sure it is gentle and kind-hearted like their friends (im guessing).

a planted head in a ‘handsome pedestal container’.
this is a drawing that i gave to suzanne for christmas and realized that it wasnt on my site yet…

from abby

from suzanne
our friends abby and suzanne came over the other night and gave us some pretty amazing gifts. 4 porcelain cups made by abby, as well as some fancy napkins with a great pattern on them. suzanne drew us a picture of a robot with some really nice words pasted on the bottom, as well as an amazing 3-plate intaglio etch she made….and a fantastic new garden book for me to draw in!
i love my friends.

jonathan had the ever-so-brilliant idea to wrap our gifts in newspaper this year!
but wait…we arent just wrapping them in newspaper…but beautiful newspaper.
the new york times newspaper to be exact. have you ever seen their images? usually stunning.
but wait….we arent just wrapping them in beautiful paper. we are wrapping them in beautiful images that give you a hint as to what’s inside of them!
this is so much fun, and not to mention eco-friendly. well, as eco-friendly as newsprint can be. atleast we arent wasting money on rolls of christmas paper when we had an abundance of beautiful newspaper in the art studio just waiting to be used.
merry christmas to you all!

so, sweet Asja over at three little cameras, just gave me 2 blog awards. im flattered.
in the tradition of the awards (or so it seems), i would like to pass the awards along to my husband jonathan perrodin, abby, suzanne, and Ariel Aberg-Riger for the inspiration they offer me on a daily basis!
thank you asja!

finally….heres my submission for IF. for some reason i have named this little lady ‘sally’, and she seems to have gotten too rambunctious at the christmas party…
here are some of my favorite words of encouragement submitted to boooooooom’s free encouragement project. this is a project that they are doing in collaboration with design for mankind that is running through the end of december. they plan on doing something with these words at the end of the year, but they have yet to say what that is.
if you want to submit your words of encouragement you still have time. it can be a sneaky way to say the way you feel about someone/encourage them. ive submitted mine…but you probably cant pick it out from the rest because theyre all so moooshy!
i have been patiently waiting to put this piece online.
the paper was larger than my new scanner (from beautiful suzanne), therefore it needed to be “stitched” together in order to blend the two scans into one. so here she is….i mean, here they are.
its hard to say whether these “women” are pursuing this man, or perhaps hes pursuing them. maybe no ones pursuing anyone and they are merely standing next to one another. its all open to interpretation….but i definitly feel something is happening here more than what meets the eye.
i drew this the other day (at work again) and it turned out looking a lot like our neighbor catherine. she is one of those that is fortunate enough to age gracefully.
{drawings}
raine has two imaginary friends that she has known since she was two:. dee-dee (the nice one) and tada (pronounced Tah-dah, like the word you used to say as a kid when you finished something amazing; shes the misfit of the two imaginary girls).
the other morning, dee-dee temporarily came to life in the form of a shadow. raine drew her on our frosty glass door and we were pleasantly surprised to see the shadow ghost on the wall next to her. so when i got the camera out, she grabbed dee-dee’s imaginary shadow hand, then turned to her and said “smile dee-dee”.
My friend abby created these two fine screenprints over the summer and was gracious enough to give me one of each. I love these prints. These will soon be matted and framed to hang somewhere in my house….thanks again abby!
