i spilled coffee onto cold press watercolor paper, allowed it to dry, then cut it out. i then sewed the dried spill onto foam board with my sewing machine, then sewed a small corduroy patch onto the spill by hand. after all of this, i stitched the foam board piece into a cut out square that was larger (not shown)…..i think a photo can say way more than i am trying to right now, and do a whole lot better job….i will post more photos of the completed stitched coffee spills. in the mean time….here is a preview.

a line drawing created in nature. i found this hanging cord on the horizontal lines simply beautiful.
jonathan so graciously volunteered to make invitations for our upcoming potluck. he knows that my time is extremely tight these days and that i would want to do more than i had time to do. hes definitely raising the bar. is it fair to say that im fortunate for such an incredible man?
ezmah recently turned one. here is a small glimpse of her incredible party.
our big trip to colorado. these photos only scratch the surface of what we did the entire time we were there. for a trip that we almost didnt take…i think we had a great time.
a recent sculpture that I made that was on display at the university of arkansas campus. these are cast wax needles with nylon rope acting as the thread. there were four in total, two of which are still on display until the end of this week. the meaning is simply a literal translation of the connection that i feel with nature when sewing something by hand. i was pretty satisfied with the end product, besides the fact that the wax was softened by the heat of the sun, it still worked out.
ezmah at play.
i love the feeling that these photos evoke.
chuck close’s painting titled “keith” featured at the st louis art museum. even though we made it to the museum 30 minutes before closing time, we were still able to see a few amazing pieces…..this being one of them. raine particularly liked this one.
the girls enjoyed seeing the animals and spending time with our friend valerie.
i took a wheel-throwing class this past summer and this is what i have to show for it. i thoroughly enjoyed this class. though i am almost done with school, i hope to do more of this in the future.
